Used as a ground tone and for underpainting since the 17th century, this is one of the indispensable Earth Iron Oxides, and apart from Terre Verte, the only naturally occurring clay Michael Harding still sources for his paints. As the name suggests, some of the best grades come from central Italy, where this supply comes from.
