Volkonschoite Green - 20ml

£16.90

Volkonschoite is a rare chromium bearing mineral only found in a few places in the world.

This particular pigment is made purely from the volkonshoite mineral sourced from the Ural mountains in Russia. It is reclaimed from quarry byproducts, so no additional mining is undertaken in its production.

An image of the raw mineral is on the left.

In masstone, it is a dark value green similar to the darkest areas of the swatch opposite. Spread thinly the white ground shows through the paint, I would describe the pigment as semi-transparent.

Smoothly ground.

To be expected it is a gentle tinter, and once white is added it produces soft green, greys. Delightfully subtle.

Similar to a terre verte but with more chroma and tint power.
