Description

Single pigment, transparent, no extenders, high pigment load, lightfast, basically everything good in oil paint!

Made with PR179, a perylene dye - hardy, industrially developed.

The masstone is a deep crimson, nice and loose handling, long in the brushstroke. Once you spread it out with a palette knife it produces a wall of colour, no scrimping on pigment load here! The transparency is there and the ground is visible through the paint film.

Cool, deep, crimson, crispness.

Interestingly has a muted vibe compared to my expectations, and I think this is a positive quality, it will make it easier to incorporate into mixes on the palette. The tints with white are cool pinks, given the lack of chroma pop - this is a  viable colour on a portrait palette.

Michael's description;

"A nice bloody red currant, fruity, deep fiery red. Perrindo Maroon offers a distinctive warmth and richness that makes it an intriguing alternative to colours from the Alizarin family. Transparent and characterful, it is particularly effective in florals, shadows and atmospheric passages."
