The real thing, ground with stone rollers. The pigment is Lead Antimoniate, used since at least the 5th Century B.C.
Basically in my experience a unique hue with unique handling, in a masstone a slightly muted, slightly cool yellow. Gently acidic in hue, leaning towards the greener end of the colour wheel.
Its dense quality and historical significance make it stand alone in the world of yellows.
In my opinion it is in tints with white where it really stands out, making the most, utterly, delightful gentle cool yellows really only usually witnessed in nature.
There is no need to write any more. Stunning and encompasses everything special about oil paint.
