Underpainting Transparent Base - 50ml

This is a fast-drying, alkyd paste medium, similar to Velázquez Medium in handling properties, but much faster drying.

This alkyd paste medium consists of finely ground calcite (ground calcium carbonate) and wollastonite in alkyd with mineral spirits. Use it to extend paint and form impastos while making paint longer. Makes colours slightly transparent allowing greater control over tints without using whites. Dries to a matte finish. Does not contain driers.

Great product

Keeps the paint lean and allows for full bodied underpainting. Just be aware that you have to work quickly with it or it will dry up on you (can always add less to your paint mixes of course). Once you get the hang of using it, your underpainting will be touch dry the next day. Also came beautifully packaged. Thanks for selling this product as I’m not sure if anyone else is selling it in the UK!

Rublev's Underpainting Transparent Base is a fascinating medium, nearly colorless in the mix and with a nice handling on the brush. The paints i mixed it into dried to the touch within 2 hours, despite containing no driers.
Also shipped really fast, great service! The paints come in a nice little box that makes you feel like you’re opening a present.
