Description
Vicenza is a pale brownish-yellow oil paint made from clay deposits near Vicenza in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy.
In masstone it is a 'soft' brown hue, warm leaning but quite neutral in chroma. Very transparent and when spread thinly the white ground shows through clearly.
As to be expected it has low tint power - however my favourite element of this paint is that when adding white in small amounts it gives really nice warm, earthy greys. These would be a perfect contrast in juxtaposition with higher chroma earths making them pop, without losing the overall natural, earthy feel.
They are like a subtler, airier version of tints you would achieve with raw umber.
A gentle paint which would provide a good neutral element to a palette.
