Description

There is nothing quite like a smoothly ground Quincridone pigment in linseed oil - colour intensity is maximum. This one has a very high load, to the point I am struggling to get the white ground to show through the transparent pigment. It really has some chroma!

I haven't worked into a portrait palette yet, but it shows promise as a alizarin alternative, giving scope to the cooler end of the red spectrum. This paint is also going create some seriously beautiful hues when combined with a mid-orange.

I particularly like the handling, nice and loose.

Michael's description;

"A sharp bluey red, ideal for those tricky hues that can sometimes be difficult to achieve. Pyrrole Crimson offers a real special angle on the palette, bringing clarity, brilliance and intensity to mixtures. Particularly effective for dramatic skies and those crazy sunsets."
