Literally meaning in English 'golden rose', this is a deep red hue with slight yellowish undertones. A superb combination of modern pigments, azo yellow and quinacridone violet.
In masstone it is a deep red, not disimiliar to a cadmium red deep, the violet from the quinacridone violet cooling the red hue.
When used 'neat' and spread out with a palette knife, the semi-transparency allows the white ground to push light back up through paint giving a glowing blood red. This is one aspect where it is certainly superior to a cadmium red.
It is an average powered tinter and provides a range of mid-temperature pinks when white is added, there is a good range available. Could work on a portrait palette if something more gentle than cadmium is required. I like this paint.
