The Quinacridones are a large group of saturated pigments, they started to become available in the 1950's as artists paint and were fairly quickly taken up by the New York abstract expressionist painters.
This particular red is a slightly coolish and transparent, perfect for glazing. In masstone almost crimson - when using its transparent nature and applied thinly on a white ground it glows.
A good strong tinter provides a wide range of cool pinks.
