Description

Olive green is a new colour from Michael Harding, based on a blend of pigments, including a greenish phthalo blue, a synthetic red earth and hansa yellow.

Straight from the tube, its masstone is a very dark, almost black hue, hard to distinguish where it sits on the colour wheel.

Spread very thinly I can get just get a white ground to show through the paint film, like Michael I would class it as semi-opaque.

When white is added it has plenty of tint power and produces greenish greys in a wide range of tonal values - given it is loosely based on blue, red and yellow pigments the greyed out tints are to be expected.

Good one for the landscape painter, trying to get greenish greys that are repeatable versus mixing your own neutrals and getting slightly different hues each time.
