Description
Noir de lampe or lamp black.
The carbon black, originally made from the soot in oil lamps - lamp black is one of the densest blacks available. Cool in nature.
In this iteration, it is beautifully hand made by Francois Schaal with his unique blend of walnut and linseed binders. High pigment load and no additives.
Francois's description;
"An exceptionally deep, intense black (PBk7), made from nearly pure amorphous carbon. Cool, slightly blue in undertone, it differs clearly from the warmer Mars Black. In masstone it appears absolute; mixed with white it produces clean, cool greys. Ground in linseed and walnut oils for a smooth, slightly lean handling. Naturally slow-drying—best reserved for upper layers."
