Description
I will leave this description to Tom!
"My oil colours are ground by hand in small batches using a slab and muller, as was practiced prior to the introduction of the triple roller mill in 1840.
I like to retain as much of the original character of the individual pigment as possible. This means that each colour exhibits slightly different working properties across my range when compared to many modern mass produced paints and they are extremely tactile to use.
A high quality carbon black with excellent lightfastness. Pigment Black 9 (PBk9). Ground in cold pressed linseed oil.
Ivory Black is an incredibly striking opaque oil colour. In masstone it appears as a rich black colour and when mixed with white, it exhibits cool muted blue tones. It forms an essential component in limited palettes such as the Apelles or Zorn palettes and is relatively firm out of the tube, though is easily brushed out and has a buttery consistency."
