Description
Tom's words on his wonderful hand ground Venetian Red oil paint;
"A beautiful natural red earth from Italy, perfect for flesh tones with excellent lightfastness.
Semi-opaque, Venetian Red is a thoroughly attractive natural iron oxide. For an earth colour it is comparatively bright and it is named after the Renaissance Venetian tradition of painting where it was extensively used by artists, such as Titian.
My Venetian Red is relatively loose out of the tube and has a velvety coarseness to it when brushed out that you may find novel compared to more familiar, modern milled paints. It will present a gritty texture when working with a palette knife. If you prefer slightly more fluid paint, simply add a touch of linseed oil for increased flow. It a fast drier and is one of my go to colours.
