The deepest of the three shades of Wallace Seymour vermilion we sell. Deep meaning leaning more towards violet than orange. This is the shade I would equate most with that classic Vermilion hue. Just slightly deeper than Abbadia San Salvatore shade.
In masstone similar to a Cadmium red middle with an earthy edge to it, like the others in this range a strong tinter and handles Titanium white with no problem, it produces clean pink tones with no orange edge. All of these three shades are just so good!
Sourced from the Mount Amiata area of Tuscany, the pigment was produced in the 1970's and stored carefully until now - just very recently being ground with cold pressed linseed oil in this fine oil paint.
Shown on the left being ground on the mill.
