Chromium Oxide is an opaque, clean, medium shade, very stable green colour. It is commonly known as Viridian and is a cornerstone of landscape painting, being the perfect 'cool' green.
Guignet of Paris patented the process for manufacturing Viridian or transparent oxide of chromium in 1859 and therefore it was a favourite amongst the French Impressionists of that era, Mr.Van Gogh was known to be a fan as well.
It has excellent permanence.
