Description
Pozzuoli earth is a single pigment paint based on a synthetic red iron oxide - not to be confused the rublev pozzuoli red which is based on natural earth from Italy and a very different hue!
In masstone, it is cool, reddish brown. Quite dense with good coverage and opacity.
Buttery in handling and like all synthetic red oxides - fine grained, super smooth paint. It soaks up titanium white, and provides cool pink tints with a purplish edge in there.
Solid paint, highly functional on portraiture/figurative palette where flesh is turning away from the light.
