Description
Orange Sunset is a new addition to Michael's range - a single pigment paint based on pyrazolone orange (PO34), from the Azo and Diarylide family of pigments.
A very deep orange, sitting on the boundary between red and orange, it has high tint power. Lots of colour in this tube! Slightly below average lightfastness.
Although the Munsell chroma rating is quite high, and this paint does have some pop, there is a slightly muted edge to the hue, on the tube swatch it pops more than when it is in front of me now. I suspect a little medium would lft the hue some. Or maybe it's just a little cool, as when white is added it doesn't produce the warm tints of, say, a cadmium red light, or a cadmium orange deep, the tints don't have that heat.
I like this paint most when lots of white is added producing, lovely soft, orange pink tints.
