Description
Genuine Naples yellow light - the pigment is lead antimoniate, used since at least the 5th Century B.C. - a truly unique hue, provided by a single pigment.
In masstone it is a very slightly muted and very slightly cool yellow (leaning towards the greener end of the yellow spectrum). It has more chroma in masstone than the deep version of Naples Yellow made by Wallace Seymour.
The historical significance of this paint - seen in countless works by great masters - makes it stand alone in the world of yellows. When tinted with white it adds to the inherent coolness and provides a range of sublime grey, cool, yellow tints. This version is quite loose in handling.
Fairly crucial on a traditional palette, historically accurate.
