Description
Small batch production and rarity of pigment align to make this very special paint.
Genuine Naples yellow, also called antimony yellow, is derived from the chemical compound lead antimonate, used extensively by the Old Masters; nowadays the pigment is known as PY41.
The 'deep' in the name means leaning more towards the orange part of the colour wheel.
In masstone it is a rich muted yellow-orange. This particular version is long in the brushstroke or could be considered slightly loose in handling.
Tints made with white are muted, warm, yellows. It has good tint strength, so will make its presence known in mixes and will fit particularly well with earth pigments, as it is not so powerful as to over-whelm them, and the soft muted feel has great synergy with the 'earths'.
Single pigment, the genuine article.
