Description
A cool, single pigment, yellow.
Sometimes known as Barium yellow, this paint is made from the pigment Barium Chromate - a pigment introduced into oil painting after the Lead Chromates, around 1820.
It is lightfast and non-reactive when used in conjunction with other pigments.
In masstone, it is an acidic yellow with shifting green overtones. The relatively low tint power facilitates mixes with magenta and the cooler reds, producing beautifully modulated greys.
Tints with white produce soft, cool, yellows - getting cooler the more white is added.
