Description
A punchy, single pigment paint made with the ubiquitous PR101 - a synthetic red iron oxide responsible for colours such Venetian red, English red, transparent red oxide.
This version veers towards an English red, having a strong orange leaning - in masstone it presents as a mid tonal value earthy red. Despite being semi-opaque I can get a white ground to show through the paint film when spread thinly, in that instance it really brings out those glowing orange undertones.
When white is added, a multitude of warm pinks are created, making a perfect base for Caucasian flesh hues.
It takes a lot of Titanium white before it is cooled down any, this being a feature of synthetic 'earths' the greater tint power meaning it keeps its inherent hue for longer against the icy coolness of Titanium white as more and more white is added.
A solid, functional paint. Fresh vibes to the hue.
