Description
Green Earth Light from Wallace Seymour is a single pigment paint from their Native Earth range - sourced from very small pigment producers making it quite unique - this particular one is from Italy.
As the name suggests, it is more yellow leaning than other green earths, and it has a fresh, light summery look in hue on the swatch.
In the masstone straight from the tube, it is lighter in tonal value than a 'normal' green earth and is a mid green-yellow hue.
Spread thinly with a palette knife, the transparency of the pigment allows the white ground to bounce light back up through the paint, showing fresh yellow undertones.
When white is added, like all green earth paints, it is a gentle tinter - however it gives a good range of delicious greenish greys with a warm edge.
A lovely paint to take outside for plein air on a Summer's day, with fresh, green grass vibes. It also would be good used in portraiture for super-subtle shifts in warm, flesh hue mixes - just taking down the chroma of pink hues.
Smoothly ground.
