Description
Limited edition - this paint is made from a vintage pigment and there is a finite amount available! Exclusive to Supreme Paint.
The pigment is sourced from the Cerreto Piano, Scansano, Italy - an image of the raw cinnabar mineral extracted from the exact same area is shown above - there is also an image of the actual paint on the mill too.
Brighter and slightly lighter than the other Italian cinnabar we sell (which can be seen here) it has a more orange leaning hue.
In masstone, it is a slightly muted orange-red, with an earthy feel to the hue - softer in chroma than a synthetic red, but still having more than enough colour saturation for most mixing companions.
You can just feel the pigment particles under the palette knife, but it is smooth and buttery in overall handling.
Strongly opaque, no ground shows through, however thinly it is spread.
Very good tint strength and when white is added it provides a wide range of orange leaning warm pinks - I tried tints with various whites and the warmth is brought out more when using a lead white replacement or the original article - it is cooled a little by Titanium white but still holds up very well against it.
Special and unique. This is a paint of real beauty, a treasure.
