Transparent yellow iron oxide boosted with a small amount of Cadmium yellow.
In masstone it has the appearance of a strong yellow ochre or Mars yellow, orange-brown in hue, pretty loose in handling and giving a long brustroke. Plenty of tint power for a colour which is so earth-like in appearance.
When dragged out with a palette knife you can see the white ground through the paint giving a zingy orange-yellow, but it is not truly transparent due to Cadmium addition.
When white is added it knocks the edge of the chroma and you get a range of warm browns to light bieges.
This will work well if you are looking for a yellow ochre but with slightly more chroma and punch. Smooth ground in linseed oil.
