Plumpton Iron Red, an earthy, brown, red. It is hand dug by Wallace Seymour so totally unique and selected for it's qualities for paint rather than commercial motivations.
It has a lot of character, very earthy with quite a gritty feel, it is ground this way to maximize the chroma.
In masstone it is low value and rich in tone, applied thinly it is rather opaque but as the white ground shows through very intense, warm reds appear. It is a relatively strong tinter and when mixed with white produces a good range of values from very light coolish pinks to cool reddish browns.
