One of the most important earths used as an Imprimitura pigment to draught out compositions on a Raw Sienna ground, as many Rubens sketches evidence. Depending on the degree of transparency, it can exhibit red or greenish undertones.

Michael Harding's is a particularly fine umber, and one that will provide great service.
